  28. COLLECT System requirements:
  29.         MEDshare#1 - Version 1.08 or DENTAL#1 - Version 1.05
  30.         MS-DOS 3.30 (or greater) (DOS 6.22 preferred)
  31.         640k of memory (required)
  32.         Monochrome (or color) monitor
  33.         (1) floppy disk drive (for loading of software)
  34.         (1) hard disk drive (for program and data files)
  35.         (1) printer (any dot matrix printer)
  36.  
  37.         NO SPECIAL FORMS ARE REQUIRED. ALL REPORTS WILL BE
  38.         PRINTED ON 8 1/2" X 11" STANDARD STOCK PAPER.
  39.  
  40.  
  41. Steps to follow for system installation:
  42. ---------------------------------------
  43. * COLLECT 1.05 is normally installed as a prt of the MEDshare#1 
  44. * 1.08 system.  The following instructions are to be followed 
  45. * only if you received a single distribution disk with only the
  46. * COLLECT 1.08 program modules on it.
  47. ----------------------------------------
  48.  
  49. Use install/update COLLECT.
  50. 1.  Make a backup of the COLLECT distribution disk and store  the
  51. original in a save place.  Use the newly created backup disk  for
  52. all following installation instructions.
  53.  
  54. 2. Insure that you have at least 1 Mega bytes of free disk space
  55. on your hard disk to hold the COLLECT.EXE program and data files.
  56.  
  57. 3. Insure that you have DOS 3.3 (or greater) installed on your
  58. computer.  This can be done by entering:  VER <enter> at your DOS
  59. prompt.
  60.  
  61. 4. Check your hard disk for any faults using the DOS 'CHKDSK'
  62. utility (see your DOS manual for more information).  If any faults
  63. are found the MUST be corrected before installing COLLECT.
  64.  
  65. 5. Place the COLLECT distribution disk #1 into eithe disk drive
  66. 'A' or 'B'.  From the DOS prompt enter the following:
  67.  
  68.          for disk in drive 'A': A:INSTALL <enter>
  69.          for disk in drive 'B': B:INSTALL <enter>
  70.  
  71. This INSTALL routine will step you through the process needed to
  72. load all of the COLLECT distribution files onto your hard disk.
  73. You will be prombed to enter information necessary to properly
  74. install your COLLECT distribution files, create any needed sub-
  75. directory that these files will reside in, and make any necessary
  76. changes to your CONFIG.SYS file.  Upon completion of this INSTALL
  77. process you will be ready CREATE/UPDATE your COLLECT data files.
  78.  
  79. 6. Collect should be installed into your current MEDshare#1 or DENTAL#1
  80. sub-directory.  In most cases this will be:
  81.  
  82.       For MED#1:          C>CD\MED1
  83.  
  84.       For DENTAL#1:       C>CD\DENTAL1
  85.  
  86.  
  87. 7. All COLLECT distribution files are distributed in compressed
  88. format.  After the INSTALL routine has copied these compressed
  89. files to your hard disk it will automatically de-compress all of
  90. these files.  If this is not the  first time you have installed
  91. COLLECT duplicate de-compressed files will already reside on your
  92. hard disk.  At the time of file de-compression you will be disp-
  93.  
  94.  
  95. layed a message asking if you wish to replace the existing file.
  96. Answer 'Y' to each of these messages otherwise you will not have
  97. the current COLLECT files on your hard disk.
  98.  
  99. 8. Print your user manual and read before going any further:
  100.                 a: turn on your printer
  101.                 b: enter C>COLMANUL  <return>
  102.  
  103.  
  104. ALL  COPIES  OF  COLLECT WILL INITIALLY  LOAD  AS  'UNREGISTERED'
  105. HAVING  A 100 PATIENT LIMIT. THIS PATIENT LIMIT WILL  BE  REMOVED
  106. UPON THE ENTRY OF A VALID 'USER REGISTRATION NUMBER'.  THIS 'USER
  107. REGISTRATION  NUMBER' IS UNIQUE TO EACH USER AND IS  PROVIDED  TO
  108. THE  USER  UPON RECEIPT OF A FULLY PAID AND PROPERLY  FILLED  OUT
  109. REGISTRATION FORM.
  110.  
  111. REGISTERED USERS WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING BENEFITS:
  112.         >CURRENT VERSION OF COLLECT;
  113.         >PRINTED USER MANUAL;
  114.         >PRODUCT UPGRADES;
  115.  
  116. REGISTERING YOUR COPY OF COLLECT:
  117. ---------------------------------
  118.      After   you've  worked with the  un-registered   package  of
  119. COLLECT,  and decide you want full access to the  system,  follow
  120. these simple steps to register:
  121.  
  122.      1.  Enter the 'SYSTEM UTILITIES'
  123.      2.  Select 'USER REGISTRATION FORM'
  124.      3.  Fill out this registration form
  125.      4.  Send in registration form and required registration
  126.          fee to MEDshare, Inc.

  130. You will receive:
  131.      A. A REGISTRATION NUMBER  that will unlock you  from
  132.         the 100 patient limits of the system.
  133.      B. A phone number you can call for support (you will
  134.         be billed for this support).
  135.      C. A printed copy of the user's manual.
  136.      D. A copy of the newest version of COLLECT.
  137.      E. Newsletter informing you of other programs  that
  138.         complement COLLECT.
  139.

  142.  
  143.            ******************************************
  144.            *** COMMON PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOLUTION ***
  145.            ******************************************
  146.  
  147. 1. INSUFFICIENT MEMORY: COLLECT operates totally within the  640K
  148. limits  of your system. This area is also used by your  operating
  149. system and other programs you may have been using. To see if  you
  150. have sufficient memory to  load COLLECT  run  the  DOS   'CHKDSK'
  151. routine.  You should have in excess of 540 K free  memory.  Next,
  152. after you have loaded COLLECT press the 'F10' key when you are at
  153. the DATE PROMPT on the COLLECT sign-n screen.  You  should   have
  154. available  free memory of 60K.  (NOTE: COLLECT REQUIRES UP TO  AN
  155. ADDITIONAL 60K  OF MEMORY FOR SEVERAL OF ITS FEATURES TO RUN.  IF
  156. YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS 60K  OF FREE MEMORY CHECK YOUR  'CONFIG.SYS'
  157. AND  'AUTOEXEC.BAT'  FILES  TO SEE WHAT OTHER  PROGRAMS  YOU  ARE
  158. USING.  THE  BEST  TEST  IS TO REMOVE ALL  BUT  THE  'FILES'  AND
  159. 'BUFFER' COMMANDS FROM THESE FILES, REBOOT, LOAD COLLECT, AND SEE
  160. HOW MUCH FREE MEMORY IS AVAILABLE. THEN ADD BACK IN THE  FEATURES
  161. YOU WANT UNTIL YOU LOSE THE 60K REQUIREMENT.)
  162.  
  163. 2. ERROR MESSAGES ENDING WITH A '(2)': This error is a result  of
  164. COLLECT not being able to locate its data files.  This  error  is
  165. normally  a result of COLLECT being installed on one  system  and
  166. then  copied   to  another  system  and  to  a   different   disk
  167. drive designation.   To   correct   this  problem   just   delete
  168. the  'COLMVBLS.MEM' file then re-load COLLECT. You will be  taken
  169. into the  system initialization cycle.
  170.  
  171. 3. "OPEN FILE" message or error messages ending with a '(4)':
  172. This error is a result  of COLLECT not being able to open a  file
  173. due to limits controlled by your DOS system.  This is corrected
  174. by correcting your 'CONFIG.SYS' file to have the minimum  'FILES'
  175. and 'BUFFERS' commands  as required for system setup.   After you
  176. have  corrected your 'CONFIG.SYS' file reboot your system - THIS
  177. IS THE ONLY TIME THAT THESE PARAMETERS ARE READ.
  178.  
  179. (NOTE: COLLECT is always being improved. These improvements may or
  180. may  not result in a change in the version number of the COLLECT
  181. program.  MEDshare  reserves  the right  to  make  these  changes
  182. without notification to existing users. When a major  improvement
  183. has  been made all users will be notified. The charge  for  these
  184. improvements will be dependent upon the features provided and  in
  185. most  cases will be
